On Tuesday, I was invited to go on a truffle hunt in the hills around the Valnerina valley, led by Primo. It was a beautiful day, and we were lucky to find 3 large black truffles (well, the dogs really found them)! After hiking around, we were treated to a fantastic truffled lunch - my favorite part was the soft cooked egg, with warm truffle sauce ladled inside - I really was licking the plate! There is nothing like eating a truffle that just came out of the ground - heavenly....
After lunch, we went to Cioccolateria Vetusta Nursia - a chocolate factory just outside of Norcia. They were making thousands of chocolate eggs for Easter, and, we got to sample chocolate with black truffles - not bad! but my favorites were the dark chocolate covered orange and lemon peels from Sicily.
