"Mr. Batali said, “They don’t need me. They have decided they are mass market and they are going after the Wal-Mart
crowd,” which he said was “a smart business decision. So they don’t
need someone who uses polysyllabic words from other languages.”
This is a quote from a New York Times article about the tranformation of the Food Network.
All I have to say is that when I went home last month, there was not one watchable show on the Food Network. Just back-to-back episodes of a short, screeching woman who doesn't know s#%t about food, interrupted only by a tall skinny woman who dumps things out of a can, and thinks she's a chef.
The food network became popular 10 years ago for cooking shows, not extreme-wedding cake-showdown-makeover shows. Instead of "transforming" they should just "go retro."

I gave up on the food network as well. It is all about competitions and stuff. I just want to learn how to cook different meals again.

I say, why watch the Food network when we can read food blogs? ;-)
I know exactly what you mean.

I agree completely -- the Food Network should go back to cooking shows. I used to be a regular, but I can barely watch it anymore -- there is hardly anything worth the time.
