My favorite of all time was, "When you're in Seattle, do you ever pop over to Route 66? Because you're so close!"

When I was in Sicily, they called me Americana even though I was Canadian. I corrected them every time they said, "there's the Americana!" Unfortunately once they knew I was Canadian some only some Sicilians would ask if I had snow all year round and how did I get a tan in a land that's so cold?" I educated alot of people that summer!

Hi, my name is Alisha. I came across your blog while searching for an article I saw a couple weeks ago, and I wanted to show it to a friend. I got distracted though when I came across your blog. Being part Italian I was captivated, especially this first entry I read. Hope you don't mind if I stop by every now and then!

Yes, it's hard to explain the differences and to correct the perceptions! A group of American expat bloggers have banded together in the hopes of letting our Italian friends know that yes, there is more in American than McDonalds, and that yes, we know how to cook! Every Friday a different blogger publishes her favorite American recipe in both English and Italian, but I'm not sure how many Italians have been converted!

Testimonials

  • We are in Sicily leaving for Rome and then home on Sunday. I just wanted to tell you once more how much we enjoyed the cooking class with you and Christiana. It is truly a highlight of our trip. If you would send the recipes to me, I will forward on to the others I also wanted to ask you to pass on to Federico that we really appreciated his time in his busy schedule to give us such a wonderful experience tasting the wine. We will be anxious to have the wines online so we can order them in a couple of months. If you are coming to CA. anytime in the future, please let us know. We would love to get together with you......perhaps to cook for you! (Nancy, USA)
  • We thoroughly enjoyed the wine tasting and lunch. I told the woman at our villa all about you and gave her your web information and a listing of your offerings. She had made several suggestions for outings and restaurants for us and will include your company in recommendations for future guests. I am also a travel agent and if I have clients travelling to Umbria in the future I will definitely recommend your services. I loved Umbria and hope to return some day. So little time...thanks again! (Karen, USA)
  • We had SUCH a WONDERFUL time! I already am deciding where to stay next time and which regions to explore. You were right that we would want to spend more time in the Umbrian region - we loved Assisi! Our stay at Malvarina was very enjoyable, dinner was wonderful, and our room was quite cozy. All in all, a terrific experience! Thank you for all of your suggestions. (Kathy, USA)
  • Thanks for an awesome time! Jordi (New Zealand)
  • Jennifer & Federico, Thanks so much for an unforgettable day touring the vineyards by horseback. We can't recommend enough this wine tour to people visiting the area. Firstly you were so obliging helping us to reach you by train from Perugia. The experience of touring the vineyards with stunning scenery, followed by winetasting and a lunch of beautiful fresh produce far exceeded our expectations. Your warmth and personal touch made an experience we will remember for a long time. Best of luck with your new venture. Mary, Orla and Karen. (Ireland)
