...or any other American holiday, it helps to remember the items that don't exist in Italy - or at least, are really hard to find...
- brown sugar
- vanilla extract
- celery seeds
- american beer other than Bud
- and the good ziplocs
Can't wait for the "great american cranberry hunt" this november!

Just found your blog through expats(don't know what took me so long) and have spent some time this morning catching up on your posts.
This July 4th we were in the States--bbq, fireworks, fun. I'm thinking ahead while I'm here and picking up some of the ingredients I'll need for Thanksgiving back in Italy, especially the cranberry sauce and evaporated milk for the pumpkin pie. I wish they had Halloween stuff out now as we always host a party for the kids and need the goodie bags, american candy, decorations. Oh well, my sister will just have to send me a box of the stuff in October.
We live between Rome and Naples but next time we're up your way will have to stop in at your restaurant. You seem to have accomplished a lot in the relatively short time you've been in Italy. Congratulations on it all: the restuarant, marriage, and learning Italian!

...and pecans, and chocolate chips, maybe even some decent aluminum foil and saran wrap! Oh, and Tylenol!
